Born in 1992 in Tokyo, Muku Kobayashi completed Tama Art University’s Graduate Program in Information Design in 2017, and the Master’s course in the Department of Sculpture at the Graduate School of Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts in 2019.
Kobayashi produces works in which he observes the leaps, discord, and discomfort that arise by intervening with a physical apparatus or object rather than an actual object or historical event while speculating on different forms. Although many of his sculptural objects and machines have a product-like appearance and suggest functionality, their intended purpose is presented ambiguously, resulting in anonymous and enigmatic forms.
