Natalia Triantafylli's work amalgamates hand-built ceramics and their 3D-printed alter egos. The way she creates the digital parts of the work is very much hands-on.

Natalia Triantafylli (1992) is a Greek designer and maker based in South London. She holds an MA from the Royal College of Art in Design Products (class of 2021), where she was awarded with a full scholarship by the Burberry Design Foundation.

Her recent work is an amalgamation between hand-built ceramics and their 3D-printed alter egos. The way she creates the digital parts of the work is very much hands-on. She doesn’t 3D model them; instead, she shapes the forms out of clay. These forms will later be digitised, printed using PLA plastic and reunite with the ceramic elements of the synthesis.

‘While walking around London, I started developing a particular fascination with the ornate Elements of mass-produced Victorian furniture; As a Greek person, I am used to living amongst the ruins of past grandeur, so I was intrigued by the paradox of the Victoriana, where the latest means of industrial production were expressed through revivalism. I started making these hybrid objects as another loop of revivalism.’
