The Valley Garden Naoshima

The Valley Garden, with installations by Yayoi Kusama and Hiroshi Sugimoto, reflects the surrounding nature and local history, resonates with the architecture, and encourages awareness of the richness and coexistence of nature, the fundamental spirit of prayer, and regeneration.

The Valley Gallery consists of a small building inspired by a shrine and a surrounding outdoor area. The building, which was built along the boundary and sanctuary of the valley, has an introspective interior space with double walls, while it is open to the semi-outdoors, allowing direct movement of natural energy such as light and wind.

These works, which reflect the surrounding nature and local history, resonate with the architecture and encourage awareness of the richness and coexistence of nature, the fundamental spirit of prayer, and regeneration.
